Who We Are
Welcome to Mackinaw City Bible Church! If you have ever been to the Mackinaw area, you know that we have been greatly blessed by God’s creative hand. What beauty we enjoy!
For the last 66 years God has allowed this Bible-believing church to proclaim God’s Word. Our music is traditional. We sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs of the past and the present. We teach and preach from the New King James Version. If you come to Mackinaw City on a Sunday or Wednesday we hope that you will join us in worshipping our Lord Jesus Christ. The object of this church is the ministry of the Word of God for the salvation of souls, the edification of Christians, the world-wide proclamation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the promotion of Godly worship, the defense of the “Faith Once Delivered”, and cooperation with Christian activity.
What We Believe
Our Beliefs & Statement of Faith
Scripture – We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the verbally inspired Word of God, the final authority for faith and life, inerrant in the original writings, infallible and God-breathed. (II Tim. 3:16; II Peter 1:20, 21; Matt. 5:18; John 16:12, 13.)
Trinity – We believe in one Triune God, eternally existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; co-eternal in being, co-identical in nature, co-equal in power and glory, and having the same attributes and perfections. (Deut. 6:4; II Cor. 13:14.)
Salvation – We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, Whose precious blood was shed on Calvary for the forgiveness of our sins. (Eph. 2:8-10; John 1:12; Eph. 1:7; I Peter 1:18, 19.)
Eternal Security – We believe that all the redeemed, once saved, are kept by God’s power and are thus secure in Christ forever. (John 6:37-40; 10:27-30; Rom. 8:1,38,39; I Cor. 1:4-8; I Peter 1:5.)

Nursery facilities are available for children ages three and under during all services.
Wed Prayer Meetings
Join us at 7:00 every Wednesday for Bible study and prayer meetings.
Children’s Ministries
Sunday school is available for children in preschool through 9th grade.
Men’s Breakfast
Join the men for breakfast year round on Saturday, 8:30 (once a month)
Missions Ministries
Our church is grateful for the opportunity to actively support missionaries all around the world.
Ladies Bible Study
Fellowship with like-minded women on Tuesday mornings, once a month, 9:00 (Oct-April)

Reid & Robin Nelson
Head Pastor
Reid Eugene Nelson trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior at about ten years old. God used his teenage years to lead him toward ministry, and he later attended Bob Jones University to prepare for that calling. After graduating in 1976, he married Robin Van Vliet, and together they served for eight years at Calvary Baptist Church in Roseville, Michigan, where he worked as Youth Pastor and then Assistant Pastor. In May of 1984, Reid accepted the call to become pastor of Mackinaw City Bible Church, where he has faithfully served for the past 41 years, ministering to both the local congregation and many summer visitors.
Matt trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as his Savior for salvation from his sins at the age of seven while attending Maranatha Baptist Church in Flint, Michigan. He later pursued preparation for full-time ministry by studying Sacred Music and Bible at Fairhaven Baptist College in Chesterton, Indiana. After moving to the Mackinaw area in 2017, Matt interned at Mackinaw City Bible Church while caring for his grandmother, completing his internship in 2018. That same year, he began working toward a Master’s Degree in Bible from Fairhaven Baptist College, which he continues to pursue today. In his personal life, Matt and Hannah Hulin were married on March 29, 2025, and now joyfully serve the Lord together in ministry.
